District of Columbia

Distinguished Young Women of District of Columbia is part of a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in young women.

College scholarships are awarded at the state level ($500 last year) and millions in college-granted scholarships are available ($1 billion nationally). And one representative will advance to the national program in Mobile, Alabama where they give away over $130,000 in cash tuition scholarships.

Program Dates

The Application deadline for the Class of 2021 is DECEMBER 15, 2020.

Online, interactive life skill sessions will begin on November 13, 2020 - Open to both high school juniors and seniors.

* Participation in DYW qualifies you for our cash and college-granted scholarship opportunities. Coming soon in the D.C. library will be the current college-granted scholarships available to you, just for taking part in our program.

** If you are selected to represent D.C. as a member of the high school graduating class of 2021, you will be required to spend the last 2 weeks of June 2021 in Mobile, Alabama for the 64th National DYW Finals.
